Sharon - Croyden
Sharon wanted a screen accurate version of the Margaret Hamilton Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.
We went through all the photos on the internet we could find and watched the movie many, many times ... something we thoroughly enjoyed, of course.
We found a pattern from the US which needed some adjustment as the sleeves. bodice and hat were inaccurate. Having redesigned to allow for the errors, and sourced as close to the original fabric as we could find, we then made the outfit .... Sharon added the make-up and broom ... and here is the wonderful result, after only one fitting!
Sharon's comment was :
It's absolutely fabulous!! Tried it all on and it looks fantastic, very very pleased.. Thanks for all your hard work, its beautiful...
Grateful thanks to Sharon for the photos
Chloe of the Midnight Storytellers has had several costumes from us in the last five years and as Chloe has her own sense of style, we enjoy every outfit we have made for her. The first thing we ever made for her was for her "Agent Green - Dragon Whisperer" character. Agent Green works at the Top Secret DCHQ in the Cotswold countryside and in order to attract the Dragons, she needs plenty of sparkle and bling to her dresses ... something that makes her a very special customer to Dragons & Unicorns.
Her next request was for a Summer Jacket for Agent Green and as it needed to be flame-proof (not all dragons are perfectly behaved) she brought us an old leather jacket on which to base her coat. After much discussion, and laughter, we added brocade godets and organza sleeves with a foiled tree pattern.
A purely one-off day for The Queen of Hearts gave us our next commission, including the two Cards and again, hilarity was also our watch-word.
A new costume was also needed for the Mistletoe Queen, and here we up-cycled a favourite skirt and blouse as the base for the look we needed for Chloe's latest character. The revues were fantastic and Chloe, as always, brought life to our creation with her usual aplomb!
